How to reuse your empty candle vessels 

All of our eco-candles come in a stylish, black glass jar that is easily recyclable once your candle has finished burning. However, an even more eco-friendly option is to reuse the jar for something else once it’s no longer needed. This gives it a new lease of life and creates as little waste as possible. 

Any candle vessel can be up-cycled and used again, so if you’re building up a collection of old jars that you’re not quite sure what to do with, you’ve come to the right place for inspiration; we have ideas for every room in the house!

 

Removing the leftover wax 

Before you reuse an old candle vessel, you will first have to remove any leftover wax. Large chunks of wax can be removed with a butter knife or spoon before cleaning the residue with warm, soapy water and a cloth. You can place the jar in the freezer for a few hours to encourage the wax to pop out, but this is not advised if your glass jar is particularly fragile. 

Remove the wick holder by placing a knife underneath and prising upwards. This should come away easily without the need for much pressure.

Green is Serene 

Empty candle vessels are perfect for potting small plants and succulents to give them a quirky and practical new purpose. Amber or coloured glass works best for this so that you can’t see the soil, but any jar will do. 

Tall, transparent candle jars work well as vases for fresh or dried flowers. Why not decorate with a piece of ribbon or twine for that extra rustic finish?

 

Organise your home office

Candles are essential if you want to create a mindful workspace, but why not combine the aesthetics of a stylish candle vessel with practicality once your much-loved candle has run low?

Decorative jars make ideal pen and pencil holders for your desk, while smaller votives are perfect to organise office essentials like paper clips, elastic bands and drawing pins. 

 

A stylish kitchen addition

Depending on the size of your jars, you could use them to store kitchen utensils, cutlery or reusable drinking straws so that they’re always on hand when you need them. 

If your candle jars have an air-tight lid, they can be used for dried goods like pasta, seeds, teabags or even sweets! Just make sure the jar is completely clean and free of fragrance before using it to store anything consumable.
